Using AI in Marvium

Use AI to chat with documents, summarize, rewrite, take notes, and convert supported content into Markdown. Choose a downloaded local model, Apple Intelligence, Apple PCC, or a cloud provider with your own API key. You only need a key for the cloud provider you want to use; that provider may require an account, billing setup, and usage charges.

Choose How AI Runs

Open Settings → AI to manage keys and on-device models. In an AI action, select the model you want to use. Open a document and choose Chat with Document to ask questions about it. Available models and actions depend on your device and the type of content being processed. Review AI output before using it; answers can be wrong or omit important details.

Downloaded Local Models

In the on-device AI settings, download a supported model, such as Qwen, or import a compatible model using the available controls. Downloads need internet access and storage. Once installed, generation runs on your device without an API key or sending document content to a cloud AI provider. Model downloads contact the download host. Speed and the size of documents you can process depend on available memory and hardware.

In document chat, the context window is the amount of text the model can consider at once, including your document, conversation, and answer. If a downloaded model needs more room, Marvium offers to optimize that request or lets you increase the context window in the selector. A larger window uses more memory. Optimization applies to that request; it does not permanently shorten your conversation or edit your document.

Apple Intelligence (local)

This uses Apple's built-in on-device language model on compatible Apple Intelligence devices running iOS 26 or later. Enable Apple Intelligence in your device settings and allow its model to finish downloading, then select Apple Intelligence (local) in Marvium. No API key is needed. Prompts and document content are processed on your device. Availability depends on Apple's device, language, region, and system requirements.

Apple PCC (cloud)

PCC means Private Cloud Compute: Apple's protected cloud processing for AI requests. Select Apple PCC (cloud) on a supported device; Marvium requires iOS 27 or later and checks system availability. It needs an internet connection, but no OpenAI, Claude, or Gemini API key. This is a cloud model choice, separate from Apple Intelligence (local).

When you run an action with PCC, the prompt and relevant content, including document text and conversation context for chat, are sent to Apple's Private Cloud Compute service. Apple states that request content is used only to fulfill your request, is not stored, and is not accessible to Apple. Apple may collect limited operational information about requests. Read Apple Intelligence & Privacy for details. Choose a local model if you want document processing to stay on your device.

Apple Intelligence and PCC have fixed context windows. In document chat, Marvium automatically fits requests when needed by reducing conversation context and selecting relevant document sections. Your original document stays unchanged, but the model may not see every passage or earlier message. Ask focused questions or start a new chat if an answer misses context. PCC can also be unavailable because of connectivity or service usage limits.

Cloud Providers With Your Own API Key

OpenAI, Claude, and Gemini receive the content needed for the action you run, which can include your prompt, document, chat history, or selected files. Their own privacy, retention, pricing, and quota rules apply. A consumer chat subscription does not necessarily include API access or credits. Marvium Pro does not supply API credits.

Before You Add A Key

  • Keep API keys private. Do not post them in GitHub issues or screenshots.
  • Copy the key when it is shown. Some providers only show it once.
  • Paste the key into Settings → AI under the matching provider, then tap Save.
  • If a key stops working, create a new one and replace it in Marvium.

OpenAI

Use this for GPT models in Marvium.

  1. Go to platform.openai.com/api-keys.
  2. Sign in or create an OpenAI account.
  3. If asked, create or choose a project.
  4. Select Create new secret key.
  5. Name it something like Marvium.
  6. Copy the key and paste it into Marvium Settings → ChatGPT API key.
  7. Make sure billing or credits are available on your OpenAI account.

Claude

Use this for Claude models in Marvium.

  1. Go to console.anthropic.com/settings/keys.
  2. Sign in or create an Anthropic Console account.
  3. Add billing if Anthropic asks for it.
  4. Select Create key.
  5. Choose a name, workspace, and expiration if prompted.
  6. Copy the key and paste it into Marvium Settings → Claude API key.

Gemini

Use this for Gemini models in Marvium.

  1. Go to aistudio.google.com/app/apikey.
  2. Sign in with a Google account.
  3. Select Create API key.
  4. Choose or create a Google Cloud project if asked.
  5. Copy the key and paste it into Marvium Settings → Gemini API key.
  6. Review Google's quota, billing, and availability details for your account.

Supported Models In Marvium

Marvium offers supported downloaded models, Apple Intelligence (local), Apple PCC (cloud), OpenAI GPT, Anthropic Claude, and Google Gemini. Available models, pricing, quota, and access can change on each provider's platform.

Troubleshooting

  • If an Apple model is unavailable, check system compatibility, Apple Intelligence settings, and model download status. PCC also needs a working connection.
  • If a downloaded model fails, try a smaller model or context window and check free storage and memory.
  • If Marvium says the key is missing, check that it was pasted into the matching provider field.
  • If a request fails, confirm billing, quota, model access, and provider status.
  • If you accidentally shared a key, revoke it on the provider website and create a new one.
